DOHA: Qatar Development Bank (QDB) organised a seminar to create awareness about its ‘Jahez’ initiative which is offering 32 plots of land for new and existing SMEs. The initiative aims to stimulate growth and help entrepreneurs with innovative and environmentally-friendly business plans. The seminar was held at Four Seasons Hotel Doha on Tuesday. QDB educated SME owners and entrepreneurs on the merits of ‘Jahez’, explained criteria for selecting projects and answered questions from participants. Abdul Aziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, CEO, QDB, said: “Throughout the seminar, we provided information to entrepreneurs about the submission process and benefits of leasing these plots in Industrial Area. “The plots will vary in size from 2,500sqm to 3,000sqm and 1,500sqm in built-up areas, leased at a competitive rate of QR5sqm per month. The initiative reflects QDB’s commitment to support SMEs development through innovative services and solutions that help increase efficiency and competitiveness.” QDB began accepting proposals in June and will continue until November 1. Evaluation of applications is divided into three phases: Initial assessment, a second comprehensive vetting process against technical requirements, and QDB’s shortlist to be met by its officials for final selection. Winners will be notified in writing. Abdul Aziz said: “QDB will also provide comprehensive start-up business solutions for applicants, including consultations, business plans, feasibility studies and applications to lease land.”
