Doha: Qatari artist renowned for 'Tamim Al Majd' painting Ahmed bin Majed Al Maadheed has unveiled a new sculpture at Doha Corniche.
The latest addition to Qatar's thriving public art scene was inaugurated yesterday by the Chairperson of Qatar Museums H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The sculpture 'Smile' serves as an invitation to spread positivity and optimism.
The sculpture is installed along Doha Corniche against a backdrop of the country's serene waterfront.
HE Sheikha Mayassa also took to social media after unveiling the new art piece, stating: "Always a pleasure to see work by our Qatari artists on display all around Qatar!"
"I was delighted to unveil @ahmedbinmajed‘s "Smile" sculpture in Doha Corniche, which invites all to spread positivity and optimism," she added.
On the other hand, artist Al Maadheed elaborated that 'Smile' was inspired by the idea to create a symbol or an art piece that can invite smiles and joy, a sense of peace and stability, as well as sparking hope for a brighter future amid the difficult times that humanity goes through.
'Smile' joins new public art pieces scattered across Doha such as the reflective sculpture 'Toub Toub Ya Bahar' by Salman Al-Malek, 'Gekrose' by Franz West, 'Hear We Hear' by Suki Seokyeong Kang, and more.
