Doha: The increased number of mobile units has paved way for the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC)’s Blood Donor Center to collect blood and blood products from different places and entities. The mobile blood donation units are well-equipped and have capacity to collect and store blood.
“At present, we have five mobile blood donation units. This presents the opportunity to visit and collect more blood from private organisations, community-based associations, public parks, and key partners from Ministries and other government institutions,” said Executive Director of Blood Transfusion Services at HMC, Dr. Aysha Ibrahim Almalki. “In addition, blood collection trucks are periodically based at malls and public parks like Corniche and Aspire zone,” she told The Peninsula.
Blood Donor Center is the sole entity for the collection and distribution of blood and blood products for all hospitals and healthcare clinics in Qatar.
Dr. Almalki urged the public to participate in blood donation at the Blood Donation Centre, mobile units, or community donation units and help save lives.
