Doha: Qatar yesterday reiterated its commitment to sustainable growth.
This came as the Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, took part as a panellist in a ministerial session entitled “Renewable Energy in an Evolving Global Energy Market” in Abu Dhabi.
It was part of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The session was moderated by Maria van der Hoevan, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.
“We have a clear vision for the future of sustainable growth and prosperity of Qatar,” said the minister, who is also Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum (QP).
“It includes our commitment to the development of renewable energy as an important constituent of our energy mix driven by adequate policy and initiatives factoring in measures like appropriate feed-in tariffs, separation of generation and transmission of energy, green banking and strategic plans for the development of renewable resources,” he explained.
He also attended the joint opening of the WFES, the International Water Summit and the Abu Dhabi International Renewable Energy Conference yesterday.
In addition, he was present at the Zayed Future Energy Prize ceremony at the Emirates Palace Hotel.
Today, he will attend the First Energy Ministerial Meeting of the Arab and South American Countries. It will focus on investment opportunities and energy cooperation between the two regions’ hydrocarbon and renewable energy markets.
