Doha: Research Scientist at Aspetar, Dr. Karim Chamari was ranked number one by Research.com, a major website for medicine research.

Dr. Chamari has a 74 H-index, 19,655 citations, and 300 publications. His World Ranking, meanwhile, is at 12,542. 

In a tweet, he said: “Glad to receive this nice news by email, being ranked 1st Researcher in Qatar in the field of Medicine (criteria: since 2014 and with an H-index of at least 70).” 

H-index is a metric for evaluating the cumulative impact of an author’s scholarly output and performance.  Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, Aspetar congratulated Dr. Chamari on his achievement in a tweet where it said: “Congratulations. Well done” with clapping hands sign emoji. 

Dr. Chamari started working with Aspetar in April 2013. Dr. Chamari is also a professor and former elite athlete. He mostly deals with physical therapy, sprint, anaerobic exercise, animal science and vertical jump. His study in exercise physiology, aerobic exercise, squat, bench press and aerobic capacity is done as part of physical therapy. 

His sprint research includes elements of body mass index, physical fitness, simulation and jumping. His most cited work are Physiology of Soccer: An Update with 1,322 citations, Factors influencing physiological responses to small-sided soccer games with 438 citations, and Improvement of cognitive function by mental and/or individualised aerobic training in healthy elderly subjects with 330 citations. 

He most often published in the field of physical therapy which accounts to 39.08 percent; Sprint at 17.52 percent; and Athletes at 14.56 percent.  

Dr. Chamari's recent work between 2019 to 2021 focused on Public health with 3.77 percent, Mental health with 3.23 percent, and Physical therapy with 39.08 percent.
