Doha, Qatar: Minister of Social Development and Family H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi emphasised that the Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work is a strategic step that reflects Qatar’s unwavering commitment to supporting social work and enhancing and raising awareness of the importance of community giving and cooperation across all sectors to serve society.
She added that this award is not merely a tribute but rather an inspiring national platform to stimulate sustainable social initiatives and support the development process in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Minister noted that Qatari society has always been characterised by a spirit of solidarity and giving. She stressed that the award aims to instil these values in future generations. She also emphasised the need to enhance support for pioneering social projects, both from individuals and institutions, in order to build a more prosperous and inclusive future.
Al Nuaimi indicated that the details and application process for the award will be announced as soon as possible, stressing that the award will feature a transparent evaluation mechanism based on international standards to ensure that projects and initiatives that create a real and sustainable impact are honoured.
She urged all individuals, institutions, and charitable and social associations to participate in this award, emphasising that every contribution, no matter how small, can make a real difference in society.
The Minister voiced her hope that this award would serve as a platform to inspire innovation in community service and promote the values of giving and social responsibility in Qatar.
The Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work is a national initiative that aims to instill a culture of social work in the State of Qatar, promote societal values, and encourage the public and private sectors and all segments of society to compete for leadership in providing community work in all its aspects. This award recognizes the outstanding achievements and efforts of all groups contributing to achieving the aspirations and goals targeted by the social development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The award consists of five categories, including individuals, families, non-profit organisations, the private sector, and media. It also consists of three levels, including the Rawda Award, the Shield of Excellence in Social Work, and a Certificate of Appreciation.
Based on yesterday’s Amiri Decision establishing the award, a committee called the Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work Trustees Committee will be established at the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
Each entity shall nominate a representative to the committee, provided that his position is no less than that of department director or equivalent. The members shall be appointed by a decision issued by the minister.
