Qatar celebrates Abu-Issa’s ‘huge win’ in UAE

DOHA: Qatari quad bike rider Mohamed Abu-Issa, who was crowned the Abu Dhabi’s Desert Challenge 2013 champion, was extended a warm reception by motor sport officials and sponsors yesterday.

Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah President of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), representatives from Salam International, and a huge gathering of fans assembled at The Gate Mall to celebrate Abu-Issa’s win.  

The Desert Challenge track on which Mohamed Abu-Issa raced, reached deep into the Liwa desert covering towering dunes and desert plains with the route crossing some of the most demanding landscapes on earth, testing drivers, riders, and machinery to the limit. 

Abdul Salam Abu-Issa deputy COO of SIIL said: “We are delighted for Qatar and for Mohamed. The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is one of the world’s most prestigious cross-country rallies and we know that drivers and riders from all over the world compete while facing the most extreme conditions. When he started this quest, we were happy to see Mohamed manage a win.” THE PENINSULA
