Blacksmith arrested in Riyadh for working as dentist

Doha: Saudi Arabian authorities arrested a blacksmith for working as a dentist in a private clinic in Riyadh.

Health authorities said on their website that “Riyadh Health Ministry, in cooperation with the security services, seized expatriate workers who operated a dental clinic in one of the popular neighborhoods in the south of Riyadh.”

A foreign worker, who is a blacksmith by profession, was caught working as dentist in a private clinic and as per local media reports the clinic did not have license to operate.

Riyadh Health authorities said that they were immediately stopped from practicing and handed over to the police to refer them to the prosecution for investigation, and all legal measures would be taken against the culprits.

Riyadh Health stressed that inspections would continue and it will not be lenient in imposing severe penalties against any health facility that violates or neglects the legal procedures or applications related to community health.

According to Saudi Arabian law these offences carry a punishment of imprisonment for a period of up to six months, and a fine of up to one hundred thousand riyals, or one of the two.
