Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister HE Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani held a press conference to address the latest developments regarding joint mediation efforts aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Here is the updates from the press conference on the latest developments in the joint mediation to end the war in the Gaza Strip:

- The first phase of the agreement includes a temporary cessation of military operations, with the withdrawal of Israeli forces eastward away from densely populated residential areas, to position themselves on the border in various areas of the Gaza Strip.

- It also includes the exchange of prisoners and detainees according to a specific mechanism, the exchange of the remains of the deceased, the return of internally displaced persons to their places of residence in the Strip, and facilitating the exit of the sick and wounded to receive the necessary treatment.

- The first phase also includes enhancing the safe and effective entry and distribution of humanitarian aid on a large scale throughout the Gaza Strip, in addition to rehabilitating hospitals, health centers, and bakeries. It also includes the entry of civil defense supplies, fuel, and shelter supplies for displaced people who lost their homes as a result of the war.

- At this stage, Hamas will release 33 Israeli detainees (living and dead), in exchange for the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons and detention centers.

- The State of Qatar affirms its continued support for the Palestinian brothers, under the guidance and care of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and diligent follow-up to ensure achieving the best.

- With the approval of both sides on the agreement, work is being done on finalising all the executive procedures during this night, after that internal procedures are to be taken by the Israeli government, following which the agreement's implementation begins on Sunday, January 19.
