Kuwait: The Kuwaiti Amiri Diwan announced on Sunday that the Amir of the State of Kuwait HH Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah accepted the resignation of the government and instructed the government to act as a care-taker until formation of a new cabinet.

"The Amir of the State of Kuwait HH Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah accepted Sunday the resignation of HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and his government. His Highness the Amir, in an Amiri order, instructed the government to act as a care-taker until formation of a new cabinet," Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) quoted the Kuwaiti Amiri Diwan as saying.

The Prime Minister of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah submitted the resignation of his government to HH the Amir of Kuwait on Nov. 8, without giving reasons for the resignation.

This is the second time that the Kuwaiti Prime Minister has submitted the resignation of his government this year, having already submitted a first resignation on Jan. 12, 2021, a week after a parliamentary interrogation was submitted against him for committing what members of the parliament considered "a procrastination in presenting the government's work program." On Jan. 24, HH the Amir of Kuwait reassigned HH Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to form the government.
On March 2, the government took the constitutional oath before HH the Amir of Kuwait.
