Doha: Macau Open 2014 winner Tarek Momen has set a plan to win the PSA World Championship in Qatar which kicks off here today.
The Egyptian who recorded his first ever win over compatriot Omar Mosaad on the PSA World Tour to take home the 4 Macau Open aims to put his engineering knowledge to good use in Qatar.
The 26-year-old has come up with his own, very different, master plan for World Championship success.
“I’ve put in so much effort the last few months with one target ahead of me THE WORLD OPEN TITLE. I thought I should come up with a completely different plan, one that never crossed the minds of the greatest squash players of all time. I’ve decided to finally put that Electronics Engineering Degree of mine to good use, AND NOW I could safely say I have completed the final stages of programming a software to lock all of my opponents in their hotel rooms with a Master Key that only responds to my voice with the help of a voice recognition system that I designed of course,” he posted on facebook post on November 11.
“I’m proud to announce that the software is now fully functioning so basically I’ve got the upper hand here and I can assure you that I’LL BE THE WORLD OPEN CHAMPION this year without even breaking a sweat,” he adds.
“So let’s bring it on guys.
“P.S: I think Squash TV should bring in extra cameras to cover the action at The Movenpick Hotel — with PSA World Tour.”
Momen will begin his Doha campaign against compatriot Omar Abdel Aziz in the first round of the World Championship tomorrow.
Speaking to The Peninsula after a training session here yesterday Momen said: “I read everybody has their own plan to win the Championship. So I wanted to have my plan.”
He disclosed that his facebook championship post is a joke.
“No one should take it (locking with a Master Key) seriously. But I am an Electronics Engineering, that’s true,” added Momen, who graduated in 2010 from the American University in Cairo.
His post have so far being shared by 26 people on facebook and some have tweeted it.
“Wow! That is smaaarttt; squash champion and an engineer perfect combination,” wrote one facebook use on Momen’s post.
