To coincide with the ‘Breast care awareness month’ a workshop on breast and cervical care awareness will be held soon for better support and care and to promote the importance of early detection.
The workshop, organised by the women’s wing of ‘Friends of Thiruvalla’ (FOTA), a South Indian community Organisation with the support of National Centre for Cancer Care, will feature lectures and video presentations and will also give an opportunity for the participants to register for a free breast cancer scanning.
The workshop will be held on October 26 at 5pm at the Indian Cultural Centre.
“FOTA ladies wing has taken the initiative for this campaign aimed at women in Qatar to help them minimize the risk of breast and cervical cancer within their families,” said Sheela Paul President, FOTA Ladies Wing speaking at a press conference held at the Caravan Restaurant yesterday. Although the bilingual workshop aims to attract more women from Kerala, the event is open to everyone.
“Its open for all, the instructions will be mainly in English,” said Sheela.
FOTA ladies wing has designed this campaign specifically to raise awareness about high risk of cancer among women above 40 years and to inform about the free scanning services available in Qatar.
National Centre for Cancer Care specialises in treatment of cancer using the latest medical equipments and sate of art technology. It aims not only to diagnose and treat cancer patients but also to improve cancer awareness through campaigns and education tools to improve early detection. They do screening programs incorporation with the Hamad Medical Cooperation.
The Peninsula
