Doha, Qatar: Shares in Qatar’s stock market witnessed gain in yesterday’s trading as the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index surged around 21 points or 0.22 percent to close at 9,667 points helped by strong buying interest from investors.
The index concluded Wednesday’s trading up at 9,645.87 points. During yesterday’s session the volume of shares traded stood at 151,804 million from 180,278 million on Wednesday and the value of shares reached QR499.273m from QR538.693m on June 13, as a result of implementing 18,635 deals in all sectors. In the session, the shares of 23 companies rose, while the prices of 28 companies decreased, and four companies maintained their previous closing price.
At the end of the trading session, the market capitalisation reached QR561.811bn, compared to the last trading session, which amounted to QR560.916bn. The indices of three sectors ended in green zone yesterday.
QSE Total Return Index gained 0.82 percent to 21,743.04, QSE Al Rayan Islamic index added 0.14 percent to 4,544.69 points and QSE All Share Index rose 0.23 percent to 3,391.84 points. The indices of banks and financial services, transportation, and consumer goods and services gained 0.24 percent, 2.06 percent, and 0.04 percent respectively.
Top gainers in yesterday’s trade were Qatar Cinema and Film Distributing, Qatar Gas Transport, Qatari Investors Group, Al Faleh Educational Holding Company and National Leasing rising by 7.9 percent, 3 percent, 2 percent, 1.3 percent and 0.9 percent respectively. While Doha Insurance, Qatar Oman for Investment, Qatar Aluminum Manufacturing, Widam Food Company, Qatar Islamic Insurance lost 6.2 percent, 1.5 percent, 1.4, 1.3 percent, and 1.2 percent respectively.
Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has maintained the current interest rates for deposit (QCBDR), lending (QCBLR) and repo (QCBRR), according to a QCB statement on X on Wednesday.
The statement said that the interest rates would remain as follows: QCBDR (5.75 percent), QCBLR (6.25 percent) and QCBRR (6.00 percent), based on an assessment of the State of Qatar’s current monetary policies.
The US Federal Reserve (central bank) on Wednesday kept the interest rate unchanged in the range of 5.25 percent to 5.5 percent.
