Doha, Qatar: Aspetar, Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital successfully hosted the AO Spine Advanced Specimen Course: Deformity—Advanced Techniques and Complex Cases on April 12–13, 2025, for the second consecutive year. Held at Aspetar’s state-of-the-art Surgical Training Center in Doha, Qatar, the course brought together elite spine surgeons and experts from around the world to share knowledge, refine skills, and discuss the latest advancements in managing complex spinal deformities.

Organised in collaboration with AO Spine, a global leader in spine surgery education, the two-day intensive course featured lectures, interactive case discussions, and hands-on practical sessions using human anatomical specimens. Participants had the opportunity to practice advanced correction techniques such as pedicle subtraction osteotomies, posterior vertebral column resections, multirod constructs, sacropelvic fixation, and anterior spinal surgery approaches. The course also explored emerging technologies like surgical navigation systems and biologics to enhance patient outcomes.

Dr. Abdulaziz Jaham Alkuwari, CEO of Aspetar and Chairperson of the event, emphasized the significance of hosting such a high-level educational program: “Aspetar is proud to partner once again with AO Spine to deliver this important course in spinal surgery.
