Doha, Qatar: In the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, H E Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, the Department of Dawah and Religious Guidance concluded the school qualifying tests for 11th Al Muhaddith Al Saghir’ competition for school students which lasted for three days. The eleventh edition of the competition witnessed a wide turnout of students and parents, where about 8,328 participated, including male and female students and parents.
The competition has witnessed remarkable development, as 12,381 registered in the current edition, of which 8,328 students from 443 schools participated, along with 1,313 guardians.
The tenth edition witnessed the participation of 6,672 contestants, of whom 4,958 students and guardians won, while 55 students received shields in honour of their highest scores in the public competition.
Al Muhaddith Al Saghir competitions are an extension of the Quranic competitions spread in various regions of Qatar, and are the fruit of cooperation between the Department of Dawah and Religious Guidance, the General Directorate of Endowments, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Jassim bin Hamad Secondary School for Boys, Umm Al Qura Primary School for Boys, and Al Iman Secondary School for Girls.
The Director of the Department of Dawah and Religious Guidance, Jassim Al Ali, praised the remarkable turnout and wide participation witnessed in the competition, expressing his pride in the outstanding performance of the students and the keenness of parents to participate side by side with their children. He stressed that this initiative contributes significantly to refining students’ skills and enhancing their religious culture, which will reflect positively on their educational achievement and community interaction. The competition, with its various categories, targeted the participation of male and female students of all ages in all public and private schools in Qatar, in addition to the participation of parents, which enhanced communication between parents, students, and schools. The winners are scheduled to be honoured on April 20 and 21, as the organising committee of the competition allocated valuable financial prizes with the support of the Endowment Fund for the Service of the Qur’an and Sunnah of the General Directorate of Endowments.
The competition also allocated honourary shields to the winning students of the public competitions after obtaining the highest grades in the fifth level “Elite 1” in recognition of their excellence in memorisation and public competitions.
