The first Holiday Inn hotel in Qatar is expected to open its doors in May. The soft-launch will be followed by a grand opening at he end of the year.
The property, which will accommodate 307 rooms, is part of the same business park where Crowne Plaza Doha - The Business Park is located. Holiday Inn – The Business Park will double the number of available rooms in that vital area.
The management of Crown Plaza – The Business Park will also be in charge of the new property as both brands come under the umbrella of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). The four-star property has a very youthful and vibrant interiors and the colour scheme gives a very positive vibe.
“We are targeting the business travellers on weekdays and the family crowd from neighbouring states on weekends,” said Marcus Sutton, the General Manager of Holiday Inn and of Crowne Plaza.
Having a five-star and four-star property with a combined room strength of 700 and in close proximity of each other will ensure the success of the seminars and conferences that the hotels will host. Both hotels are well equipped to match the needs of the a diverse audience participating in the events.
Moreover, the Holiday Inn boasts of one of the largest ball rooms in this part of the town. With 907 sqm pillar-less ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 people. The hotel aims to host big weddings, seminars, exhibitions and car launches, as they have a ramp to bring in vehicles directly inside the room.
Even though not connected physically on the ground level, the two hotels are less than 5- minutes by walk. They share common underground parking, which they will be using a lot as the main kitchen is located in Crowne Plaza. They also have several small meeting rooms which are aesthetically designed with branches as common areas for participants.
“We are acquiring lots of artworks for these common areas from local artists. These are commissioned specially for us by experts in the field and we hope it will give a local flavour to the overall appeal,” Sutton added.
The hotel will have two restaurants and a pool lounge in addition to The Hub, a coffee shop that will serve as a Business Centre also.
“Our guests can enjoy both the facilities of the Holiday Inn and the Crowne Plaza which will allow them up to 11 dining restaurants, more than 20 meeting rooms and the Event Centre. We are also looking at promoting the Business Park as a destination with the opening of the Holiday Inn,” Eunice C Fernando, PR Manager of both Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.
