Qatar shooters top in Double Trap

Doha: Qatar men’s Double Trap team – gold medal winners at the Incheon Asian Games – added another feather to their cap by winning gold at the Arab Shooting Championship.
The hosts had more to cheer about when the women’s team won silver in the 10m Air Rifle.
Yesterday at the Losail Shooting Range, the Qatari troika of Masoud Hamad Al Athba, Rashid Al Athba and Abdulbaset Mohsin shot a combined tally of 408 targets to emerge winners.
Kuwait team, consisting of Ahmad Alafasi, Hamad Alfasi and Saad Al Mutairi clinched the silver, while Lebanon trio of were able to successful in shooting down 392 clay pigeons, nine less the silver winning team, to won the bronze.
In the men’s individual Double Trap, the Kuwaiti duo of Ahmad and Hamad Alfasi, part of the silver winning team, finished second and third.
Morocco’s Mohamed Ramah finished on top.
In the gold medal shoot-out, the 28-year-old from Tetouan was unsuccessful in only one attempt in the round of 30 targets. Hamad on the other hand missed the target three times.
Qatar’s Masoud Hamad and Rashid finished fourth and fifth. The last named lost the bronze medal match to Kuwait’s Ahmad 29-27.
The Moroccan was delighted with his gold medal winning feat, his first in Double Trap.
“I am delighted in winning my first gold medal in Double Trap. Hopefully I will win more gold medals,” said Ramah.
“Earlier I used to take part only in Trap events and won gold medals at the Arab Championship and African Championship, both in 2012. I shifted to Double trap last year,” said Ramah, who is backed by his family and trains under Italian coach Marcelo Dradei.
Qatar had more success yesterday in women’s 10m Air Rifle team event.
Mahbubeh Akhlagi, Shaikha and Bahya Al Hamad won silver finishing behind the gold winning team of Maryam Arzouqi, Munira Alanjari and Fatemah Abdulmalek of Kuwait.
The winning trio netted a combined score of 1211.5 while Qatar’s could score 1209.1. 
Oman team, consisting of Siham Al Hasani, Amina Al Tarshi and Khadija Al Jahafi, clinched the bronze.
Kuwait’s Maryam went to complete a double winning the individual gold in the 10m Air Rifle.
Houda Chaabi of Algeria came second and Siham Al Hasani won bronze.
Meanwhile, Hamed Said Alkhatri of Oman won the gold in the 10m Air Rifle men’s event while the Tunisian duo of Seifeddine Khemiri and Anis Jbali finished second and third.
In the team event of 10m Air Rifle for men, Saudi Arabia topped followed by Oman and Kuwait. 
Saudi Arabia shooters had more success in the 50m Pistol event with Atallah Alanazi and Mohammed Al Saeed winning gold and silver, while Oman’s Jamal Mansoor Alhattali finished third.The Peninsula
