Children at a programme organised by Hyatt Plaza during Ramadan.
Hyatt Plaza is bringing back its popular ‘Fast-a-thon’ on June 16 and 17 to headline a series of activities that were designed to observe the holy month of Ramadan.
Fuad Shaqadan, Marketing & Leasing Manager, said that 'Fast-a-thon' is Hyatt Plaza’s charity event for non-Muslims which offers them an opportunity to experience fasting for one day. Now in its eighth edition, the annual ‘Fast-a-thon’ is expected to gather hundreds of participants, who will also get the noble chance to help young children in Somalia.
This year, for every person who registers and fasts, Hyatt Plaza and Qatar Charity will donate QR200 on his or her behalf as part of efforts to feed the destitute children in Somalia. Registration is ongoing, said Shaqadan, who noted that interested parties may register online or at Hyatt Plaza information service desk.
“Hyatt Plaza’s aim in organising this event is to give non-Muslims the opportunity to experience fasting and be a part of a noble cause, which is supporting a country in need,” he added. Shaqadan also pointed out that for the past 8 years they have managed to organise the event which helped several nations.
In the spirit of giving and compassion, Hyatt Plaza had also lined up other events aimed at inculcating positive values, especially in the minds of children and their families.
Shaqadan said Hyatt Plaza’s Ramadan activities aspire to add value to Qatar’s residents and “to bring joy and happiness” through the country’s “old and strong traditions.”
“The series of activities we have prepared for the holy month also aim to instill moral values and principles in the young generation through fun and entertainment, and to engage families as well through entertaining activities like story telling & interactive games” Shaqadan said.
The Layali Al Khair came back for its third edition. Organised by Qatar Charity, Layali Al Khair is held at Hyatt Plaza’s food court and offers educational and entertaining exercises aimed at bringing families together and giving them the chance to experience activities including cultural events, puppet shows, and story-telling sessions.
