Drivers detained after drifting videos go viral: Traffic department

Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic at the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) announced the seizure of two vehicles who were found drifting at Al Kheesa area.

Videos showing the SUVs drifting and doing dangerous driving were shared on local social media and many people were commenting about the risky driving.  

The traffic department took notice of the video and prompt action was taken against the erring drivers and vehicles. The drivers were detained and cars were seized by the police.

The traffic department on its official Twitter account said: "Regarding the video that has been circulating recently showing the dangerous driving of vehicles in the Al Kheesa area, we would like to inform that the vehicles were seized and detained until further notice.”

The Department added that the drivers were transferred to the Public Prosecution and will make them compensate for the damage they caused on the street.

Multiple videos were posted on social media sites that showed a group of vehicles doing dangerous stunts and causing damage on the street. One black car was seen toppling over multiple times after the drifting attempt went wrong. Another white SUV was also involved in the incident and was seen burning tyres causing thick billowing smoke.
