Doha: Around 250 shooters are competing in the Arab Shooting Championship which kicked off here yesterday with the opening ceremony.
The nine-day event, organised by Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA), was declared open by QSAA President Mohammed Ali Al Maadeed in the presence of President of Arab Shooting Confederation Duaij Al Otaibi at the Losail Shooting Range.
Apart from host Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon and Sudan are taking part in the event which will conclude on November 19.
Some of the top shooters from the Arab world will face off in an exciting and tense tournament.
The championship got off to a flying start with a march past by the participating teams and practice round. Shooters will compete trap, double trap, 10m air rifle and pistol categories.
