Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy shared the pictures of the under-construction Lusail Stadium, a venue of 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“Situated in the heart of the futuristic Lusail City is Qatar 2022’s biggest tournament venue. The 80,000-seat Lusail Stadium will be transformed into a community space after 2022, including schools, shops, cafés, sporting facilities and health clinics,” the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy tweeted yesterday sharing the photo.
The design of this magnificent stadium is inspired by the interplay of light and shadow that characterises the fanar lantern. Its shape and façade echo the intricate decorative motifs on bowls, vessels and other art pieces found across the Arab and Islamic world during the rise of civilisation in the region.
Once-finished the venue will become the centrepiece of Lusail – a newly built, state-of-the-art metropolis, designed specifically with residents’ needs in mind.
