DOHA: Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions Al Sadd will play a friendly against hosts Real Madrid, it has emerged.

The match will take place at the famous Santiago Bernabeu with Al Sadd captain and former Real giant Raul set to play one half for each side, a news report on the Real Madrid website said.

The match will be held before the start of the new season in Spain and Qatar.

Last year, Raul helped Al Sadd win the QSL title in a season in which the Doha giants lost only three games.

A hugely popular figure in Qatar, 35-year-old Raul joined Al Sadd in May 2012.

Raul spent 16 years of his career playing for Real Madrid and is the club’s all-time top goalscorer with 323 goals, just ahead of Di Stefano, who scored 307 goals.

The Spanish striker is also the most capped player in the history of the club with 741 appearances, just ahead of Sanchís.
