Doha, Qatar: Nestled within the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, the FBQ Car Museum has become a phenomenon, drawing in a massive influx of visitors from around the globe.
The new addition to the FBQ family has emerged as a captivating attraction, capturing the hearts of car enthusiasts and curious explorers alike. Its allure lies not only in its stunning collection of over 300 classic cars but also in its embodiment of heritage and culture.
Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani told The Peninsula that: “the footfall of the car museum is very massive, now it became one of the attractions of FBQ, like people coming at the museum go directly at the car museum.”
Stepping into the Car Museum, visitors are transported on a mesmerising journey through the annals of automotive evolution. With exhibits dating back to the 1900s, the museum showcases an exquisite array of classic models, ranging from cars and trucks to sports cars, convertibles, and limousines. Each vehicle tells a story, offering a glimpse into the past and bridging the gap between bygone eras and the present day.
On the far left of the museum, visitors are greeted by a striking black and white portrait of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, symbolising the resilience and national identity of Qatar during the three-year blockade.
Adjacent to the portrait stands the iconic 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz two-door convertible, which serves as a canvas for messages of hope and encouragement from those who have visited the FBQ museum. This initiative, born out of the tumultuous political tensions faced by Qatar in 2017, signifies the indomitable spirit and unwavering optimism of the nation.

Among the awe-striking vehicles housed within the museum is a funky, fully decorated Pakistani bus bearing a Qatari license plate and a resounding statement: “Ya Allah” (Oh God). The vibrant colours adorning the mini-bus are impossible to ignore, drawing visitors in with their magnetic charm. This whimsical addition adds an element of playfulness to the otherwise historical collection, offering a delightful surprise around every corner.
The FBQ as a whole is not solely intended for tourists; but it serves as an inspiration for various industries, including designers and artisans, said Sheikh Faisal.
The textile section, in particular, entices creative minds seeking fresh ideas for their new designs. The museum’s vast array of exhibits transcends boundaries, captivating the imaginations of all who enter its halls.
“Visitors from all over the world come to FBQ, like designers who check the textile section, for them to have an inspiration for their new designs. The museum is an attraction for different industries, not just tourists, but for everyone,” Sheikh Faisal said.
To ensure that everyone has access to this treasure trove of history, the museum offers the car collection as part of its regular tour. With a nominal fee of QR50 for adults and free admission for children under 12, there are no additional charges for exploring the automotive wonders within.
The FBQ Car Museum stands tall as a testament to the unwavering commitment of many individuals who support the preservation of heritage and the celebration of the extraordinary. Whether you are a car enthusiast, a history buff, or simply an explorer in search of captivating experiences, prepare to be enchanted by the FBQ Car Museum—a remarkable journey through time, artistry, and the indelible spirit of Qatar.
