Charlotte---America's popular NASCAR stock car racing circuit Wednesday lifted the indefinite suspension of driver Kurt Busch handed down over a domestic violence accusation.
The move comes a week after prosecutors in Delaware said they would not press charges in the case because of a lack of evidence.
Busch was suspended last month by NASCAR after a Delaware family court judge granted his ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll a protective order, saying Busch more likely than not committed an act of domestic violence against her in an incident in his motorhome at the Dover International Speedway last September.
The criminal case, conducted by Delaware police and officials at the speedway, was separate from the family court probe.
Busch is now eligible to compete in this weekend's Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix.
However, according to a press release from NASCAR, Busch remains under indefinite probation subject to additional mandatory requirements that include but are not limited to participation in a treatment program and full compliance with any judicial requirements placed upon him.
NASCAR said Busch had met all requirements for reinstatement, including behavioral assessment sessions after which a behavioral health care expert recommended his reinstatement.
Series officials have also made Busch eligible for the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, waiving the requirement that a driver compete in all championship events of the season to be eligible for the season-ending series.
