Doha, Qatar: University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) celebrated National Sport Day 2025, presenting a dynamic lineup of activities and competitions in collaboration with esteemed partners such as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), BeBasketball, and TnT Athletics.

The event saw the participation of H E Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al Naimi, President of Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF) and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education along with Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mulla, Vice-Chair of the UDST Board of Trustees and Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of the UDST, students, staff, their families, and members of the broader community.

As a FISU Platinum Certified Healthy Campus, the UDST’s participation in National Sport Day reflects its strategic commitment to wellness, active living, and community engagement. The event reinforces the UDST’s leadership in integrating sports and wellness into education, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030 to foster a healthier society.

The campus was transformed into vibrant sports and wellness zones, offering a diverse array of events catering to attendees of all ages and interests. This year’s programme emphasised inclusivity and fun, while promoting the values of teamwork, health, and fitness. Highlights of the day included a Family Walk/Run, which was a group activity to explore the campus and promote family bonding.

The PSG Kids Football Tournament brought youthful energy to the grass pitch with engaging matches. Basketball and Volleyball challenges allowed enthusiastic players to showcase their skills in friendly yet competitive games. Fitness Obstacle Courses and SpinFit Classes tested attendees’ strength, stamina, and coordination. Fun Zones and Kids Activities delighted the youngest participants. Interactive Tennis, Padel, Cricket, and Badminton Try-It Sessions provided guests with a chance to explore new sports. 

Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of UDST, expressing his enthusiasm, said, “At the UDST, sport and wellness are key to developing well-rounded individuals, prepared to excel both academically and in life. Qatar National Sport Day goes beyond just physical activity; it nurtures unity and community, bringing people together to enjoy healthy, meaningful experiences.

“The celebration reflects our shared commitment to health and well-being, which are essential elements of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Through events like these, we aim to inspire a culture of wellness that empowers our community to live healthier, more balanced lives.”

Anthony Martin, Director of UDST’s Sport and Wellness Directorate, said, “Our programme this year was curated with diversity in mind. From team competitions to individual challenges, we ensured there was something for everyone. It’s always rewarding to see our community come together to celebrate fitness and companionship.”
