Over 8,000 students join MoEHE's NSD activities

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) organised distinguished sports activities at the Old Doha Port Park, with wide participation from students, teachers, parents, and community partners.

The event was attended by Minister of Education and Higher Education H E  Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, along with senior ministry officials and more than 8,000 students from various public and private schools, as well as members of the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association.

The Minister emphasised that National Sport Day is not just a celebratory occasion but an annual milestone to promote a culture of physical activity as a way of life, pointing out that sports are not a luxury but a basic need that contributes to building a balanced and effective personality.

She explained that the interaction between students, teachers, and coaches today reflects the current generation’s awareness of the importance of sports in improving the quality of life and enhancing physical and mental health.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi, witnessed some of the activities organized by the Community College, Lusail University, and the University of Doha for Science and Technology.

He also participated in honoring the winners of various sports competitions.

The ministry presented a comprehensive sports program suitable for all age groups, including diverse sports competitions that catered to various interests and talents.

The program also included finals for private school championships in football, volleyball, handball, and basketball, hosted by the Palestinian Schools Complex in Doha in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, with the participation of community schools and private schools.

The results saw the Egyptian School win first place in football, while the Sri Lankan School secured second place. In volleyball, the Sri Lankan School took first place, followed by the Palestinian School in second place.  — QNA
