Qatar’s Single Window System, which announced the full implementation of digital transformation of processes related to establishing new businesses in Qatar by January 15, after launching the first phase of the single window services last year, will roll out over 30 new services for investors in Qatar soon, an official has said.
The government-initiative single window services, which has a one-stop-shop service centre at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) headquarters at Lusail City, has linked over 20 government and semi-government entities related to the application of trade licenses under one roof.
With the platform’s digital transformation, investors and businessmen establishing their businesses and factories in Qatar will no longer need to be present at the centre to register their companies. Investors will now submit and sign applications as well as pay their fees electronically to obtain a trade license from the comfort of their own homes or offices anywhere in the world.
“All the investors will have to log in to the single window portal, create an account, submit an application, and do all the processes electronically without the need to be present in any of the service centres. We’re now launching (the portal) because we need to encourage investors to use the e-services,” Single Window’s Director of Support Services Nasser Al Noaimi said while speaking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of a press conference organised by the MoCI in Doha recently.
He added that more such services will be introduced to investors in Qatar in the coming weeks. “Hopefully we’re targeting by the end of February to have the comprehensive renewal services. So instead of just renewing services one by one, investors will be able to renew the whole company in terms of commercial registration, commercial permits, establishment ID, tax card, and others. All of these in one application, one service, and one payment, instead of doing multiple applications and payments,” he added.
In a previous interview with The Peninsula, Al Noaimi said that the phase one of the single window services will cater to those establishing new businesses in Qatar. However, the second phase which is yet to be launched, will involve investors making changes to their companies such as selling or closing their businesses, removing partners, adding new signatories and activities, and updating their contact information.
“All these new services will be issued in releases, from now until the beginning of the third quarter of this year. We will be announcing almost every week or every two weeks all the new services that have been deployed, and once the services are available so the users will be kept up to speed to all the changes of the new services,” said Al Noaimi.
He added that since the first phase of the single window services has been launched in September, the platform received over 450 applications to establish new businesses in Qatar, which comprises between 10 and 11 percent of the total transactions conducted at the MoCI.
