Doha, Qatar: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari has said that the de facto policy pursued by the Israel occupation to occupy Syrian lands will lead the region to more violence and tension.

He stressed, in this context, the need for the international community with its legal and moral responsibilities to compel Israel to comply with legitimate international resolutions.

Addressing weekly media briefing yesterday, Al Ansari welcomed the announcement by various opposition groups in Syria regarding guaranteeing safety and security of all citizens in Syria.

He said that Qatar is in constant contact with all regional, international partners to maintain the integrity, sovereignty of Syria and to protect the rights of all Syrians. “Syria to be a home for all, for all Syrians… we are working right now 24/7 in our communications with various parties inside Syria, in the region and beyond.”

He said that Qatar had congratulated Syrian people on great achievement of realising their dreams for freedom and winning their ambitions. “We believe this is an opportunity... not only for our brothers in Syria but also for the region.”

He noted that the role of Qatar towards Syria is represented by a positive contribution to achieving the aspirations of the Syrians who are in dire need of great support.

“All channels of communication are open with all parties at various levels to provide assistance and conduct the necessary consultations on the future of Syria.”

Dr. Al Ansari said that the Syrian opposition embassy in Doha is the first of the new Syrian embassies, noting that this matter is a source of pride and reflects the position of Qatar, which has not changed since the first day of the Syrian crisis, to support the aspirations of the Syrian people by all available means.

“We support the brothers in Syria in the need to work together to achieve their aspirations, especially after the fall of the Syrian regime... During the past 48 hours, many contacts were made with various parties to determine the needs of the brotherly Syrian people, and to provide aid and assistance in any form that may be requested from the State of Qatar.” He said the positive steps announced by the various parties in Syria are an indication that the Syrian people want to live a dignified life based on security and peace. “Communications were cut off with Syria due to the presence of a regime responsible for major crimes that the State of Qatar cannot accept... there is a transitional authority in Damascus and Qatar will engage positively with the new phase, with the continuation of aid and all forms of communications so that the issue is not only the return of relations, but also continuous Qatari support for the Syrian people.”

Dr. Al Ansari said that on the directives of H H the Amir, Qatar began operating an air bridge carrying humanitarian aid to the Syrian people, revealing the arrival of the first aircraft to the Turkish city of Gaziantep, loaded with 27 tonnes of food and medical supplies, and shelter supplies provided by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD).

He further said that another Qatari Armed Forces plane sent to Marka Military Airport in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan yesterday (Tuesday afternoon, carrying 25 tonnes of food, medical supplies and shelter supplies provided by the QFFD, as the total aid so far has reached 52 tonnes of aid that has not stopped as long as there is a need for Syria.
