DOHA: With Qatar gearing up to establish major infrastructure related projects of worth $150bn during the next six years to host 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar Businessmen’s Association (QBA) yesterday launched a 270 page ‘Qatar Construction Guide 2012/2013’, an information directory, what they called “ultimate gateway for building and construction in Qatar”.
The glossy and bilingual guide contains contact details of major companies supplying or dealing in goods and services related to the construction industry in Qatar.
The guide provides a brief account of Qatar’s geography, climate, population, language, natural resources, companies, investments and other socio-economic and cultural details of the energy rich country.
In addition, it also sheds light on the 2012 evolutional construction stages of real estate and construction sector in Qatar, and the achievements of the state represented by the government and the private sector in infrastructure.
It (the guide) was formally launched by the Chairman of the QBA, Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Al Thani at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
Also present were Hussain Al Fardan, First Deputy Chairman, QBA; Sheikh Khalid bin Thani Al Thani, Second Deputy Chairman, QBA; Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani, Ibrahim Jaidah, Maqbool Habeeb Al Khalfan and many others.
“The Qatar Construction Guide aims to help foreign companies, business delegates and individuals who are coming to Qatar for doing business in the construction and real estate sector”, said Sheikh Faisal.
“As every week and month we are witnessing new companies, associations and consultants entering into the country, this is the best way to introduce them in the market”, he added. “As major infrastructure projects are set to launch, we want to introduce the investment opportunities to the foreign and local investors.”
QBA had announced its plan to launch Qatar Construction Guide 2012 in June, during a ceremony hosted by the association which was attended by a large number of representatives from government and private sector companies.
Commercial Bank, Bank Audi, Al Saraiya Holding Group, Aamal, Aluminum Gulf Ray (AGR) and Qatari Diar are the major sponsors of the Guide.
