Winter camping season begins on October 30

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has announced that the winter camping season 2019-20 will begin on October 30 and continue till March.

“The registration for the five-month long winter camping season will open on October 14 and it will continue till December 31,” said Assistant Under-secretary for Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Eng. Ahmed Mohamed Al Sada during a press conference held yesterday a the headquarters of Environment Affairs Sector at the Ministry.  

He said that the interested candidates can submit their applications is through government service centres operating across the country during given time.

“The registration could be made through the Ministry’s official website (www.mme.gov.qa) and its mobile app ‘Aoun’. Help desks will also be set up for registration at Mall of Qatar and Gulf Mall starting on October 15 for four days,” said  Al Sada.

He said that the registration process was divided in to three stages for the first three days, as the registration will open on October 14, the first day, to receive applications for camping in Sealine, Al Shamal, Al Ghashamiyah, Al Zubarah, Dukhan, Al Sariyah, Zekrit, Al Nqian, Al Khararah, Ashiraj and Umm Al Maa.

“On the second day, the registration will be open for camping in Reem Reserve, Al Khor, Al Waab, Amqitana, Al Marona, Fuwairit, Al Mazrouha,, Umm Al Aafa’i, Al Hasham, Abu Zahlof, Al Zubara and Al Udaid,” said Al Sada.

He said that on the third day, it will be for camping in Rawdat Rashed, Rawdat Aisha, Ras Matbakh, Arida, Al Ghariyah, Al Mufair, Ras Al Nouf, Al Otouryah, Al-Sane’ah and Al Rees West.

Al Sadah announced that the Ministry of Municipality and Environment launched the Best Camp Award this year for the first time to encourage the campers to follow the rules.

Director of the Department of Protection and Wildlife, Omar Salem Al Nuaimi, said that the services provided during the camping season are open to businesses serving the campers.

He said that committee concerned will receive the applications for commercial activities during the camping season and it will allocate spaces for the services.

Al Nuaimi stressed that the past years witnessed a significant decrease in the number of violations and warnings, due to awareness of people and cooperation with the relevant authorities in efforts to preserve the environment its resources, expecting more cooperation of citizens to make this camping season a success.

He pointed out that the launch of the Best Camp Award is one of the incentives aimed at pushing the camps to preserve the environment, hinting that the idea of extending the camping season is not possible this year due to holy month of Ramadan.

Captain Abdullah Mohammed Asheer, a representative of the Ministry of Interior, pointed out that all violations are being addressed during the camping season, whether environmental or security in accordance with the laws, pointing to taking severe actions against violators and referring them to the Public Prosecution for further legal actions.
