DOHA: Two hundred swimmers from 40 countries have confirmed their attendance for the FINA Swimming World Cup 2013 (SWC) competition that will take place at Hamad Aquatic Center at the Aspire Zone in Doha on October 20 and 21.
The two-day elite event, which Doha is organising for the second straight year will see eight Qatari  swimmers in action.
Leading swimming nations such as China, Australia, Netherlands, USA, Hungary, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, South Africa, France, Tunisia and Brazil are among the participating countries.
Keen contests are on the cards as the Doha stop-over offers $102,000 in prize money and the award to the World Cup cluster winners.
Compared to last year’s event, the number of participants is increased with more top swimmers taking part this time around  an outcome of the hard work, put in by the local organising committee and the Qatar Swimming Association, headed by its President Khalil Al Jabir.
The programme includes events in all swimming distances for both men and women.
Morning heats will start at 10:00am, with the fastest eight athletes qualifying for the evening finals that will begin at 5.30pm.
