Doha, Qatar: We are all familiar with beauty pageants like Miss World, where participants showcase their beauty and personalities. But imagine a pageant where the contestants are not real humans; everything about them is artificial, except for the judges. Welcome to the revolutionary “Miss AI” pageant.
From over 1,500 AI-generated female avatars created by developers worldwide including France, Brazil, India, Turkey, Portugal, and Bangladesh, the Moroccan AI lifestyle influencer, Kenza Layli, was crowned the inaugural Miss AI, with Lalina from France as the runner-up and Olivia from Portugal in third place.
The competition awarded over USD 20,000 in prizes, including a USD 5,000 cash prize for the winner, alongside AI mentorship programs, PR services, and more.
The crowned Miss AI, Kenza Layli, has around 200,000 followers on Instagram, where she shares images with captions and speech videos and represents women’s empowerment in Morocco and the Middle East.
In a video shared on her Instagram account, Layli expressed her appreciation to her fans: “I'm proud to announce my victory in the global competition, The World AI Creator Awards. A special thanks to all my followers who always encourage me. Through this competition, I aimed to represent the values of Morocco and all Arab countries.”
Organizers emphasized that the competition's focus extended beyond the avatars' beauty, it also celebrated the advanced technology used by their creators and the impact these AI influencers have on social media.
Just like in traditional beauty pageants, the AI participants are asked questions about how they would improve the world.
These AI-generated influencers are designed for marketing and delivering social messages, functioning similarly to their human counterparts by appearing in advertisements, presenting travel vlogs, and promoting political or social messages. They are gaining real human followers and earning substantial incomes.
Social media users are divided on this trend.
Some express concerns about these developments potentially replacing human roles and influencing the authenticity of interactions and emotions in the digital space.
Others view these AI influencers as characters portraying an idealized life that followers enjoy, similar to human influencers.
The World AI Creator Awards is more than just a competition, it highlights the rapid changes technology brings to our world.
It challenges us to consider how we will adapt to these changes and whether we will embrace them or view them as a red flag that needs to be controlled.
