Doha, Qatar: At least eight were killed, most of them children, and several injured following an Israeli attack on a residential apartment in Gaza City's Daraj neighbourhood.

In another incident, it bombed a home in the az-Zawayda area of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, killing three people, which includes two children, the Wafa news agency reports.

Meanwhile the approval of US-sponsored immediate ceasefire resolution by the United Nations Security Council has offered a ray of hope of permanently ending Israel’s war on Gaza for the first time in eight months.

“Where do you turn trying to keep a newborn safe and fed in that environment? We are facing a situation where women are delivering babies by caesarean section without anesthesia because there’s no energy, there’s no generator, the medicines are running out.”

The UNFPA is demanding that humanitarian corridors be opened up and for international humanitarian law to be respected, Kanem added.

The head of the Palestinian Football Association has said political bias is behind the rejection of his Australia visa application that left him unable to travel with the national team for a FIFA qualification match tonight in Perth.

“I should attend the game, I should be with our team,” Rajoub said.

[8:15am Doha Time] Security Council's resolution a step to cease genocide war in Gaza: Palestinian Presidency

The Palestinian presidency welcomed the UN Security Council's adoption of a draft resolution submitted by the United States supporting a proposal by US President Joe Biden for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Presidency considered, in a statement, the adoption of this resolution as a step in the right direction to stop the ongoing war of genocide in Gaza, calling on everyone to assume their responsibilities for its implementation.

The decision is consistent with the Presidency's demands for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression, the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip, the entry of aid, the prevention of displacement, and that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the territory of the State of Palestine, the statement noted.

The statement stressed that the Security Councils affirmation in its resolution of its firm commitment to the vision of a two-state solution, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, requires working seriously towards implementing the political solution that leads to ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

The Security Council adopted the draft resolution after the approval of 14 countries, while Russia abstained from voting.
