DOHA: QSports has officially opened registrations for its 2013 Ramadan leagues and tournaments.
The format builds on the success and popularity of the 2012 QSports Ramadan event and this year includes 10 different sporting activities for the residents of Qatar to join and enjoy.
The format follows the standard QSports approach of offering a variety of sporting leagues and tournaments that are open to all but with all the games being played during the evening (after the breaking of the daily fast) and with the tournaments being concluded before the Festival of Eid.
Sports are open to men which include cricket, basketball, indoor and outdoor football and volleyball while three tournaments will be held for women - basketball, volleyball and football.
Qasim Khalid – QSports Director of Operations said: “It is a great opportunity for sports fans to continue to be involved during the month of Ramadan. Based on the success of last year and the feedback we had from participants we have again expanded the number of sports leagues and tournaments that we offer to men and women.”
Ghanim Al Mohannadi, QSports Chairman, said: “We are very respectful of this holy month and recognise that it is an important time for reflection and discipline – however we also want to ensure that people stay physically as well as spiritually healthy and therefore offer a mixture of sporting leagues and tournaments for everyone to join.”
There are 10 sports available. For men, these include: Basketball, cricket, indoor futsal, outdoor seven-a-side football, outdoor 11-a-side football and volleyball.
