The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has urged residents to alert Anti-Begging Section at Criminal Investigation Department about any case of begging, as it is considered as a reprehensible behaviour.
The approved charity organisations are the official agencies in the country to help the needy and poor people, said the Ministry, adding that if anyone watches somebody begging, report to Anti-Begging Section at Criminal Investigation Department on 2347444 / 33618627.
Last year, Anti Begging section at Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry detained 67 persons of different nationalities in the first 10 days of Ramadan.
The Anti-Begging Section always conducting drives in Ramadan to nab beggars who are exploiting people’s sympathy to cheat them. The begging becomes rampant during Ramadan, and people have to give charity only to charity organisations, because they are the ones who are responsible for collection and distribution of charity.
The beggars used many ways to collect money from people and visit them and knock at their doors, and claim that they have organization and need help to build mosques or they claim that they are sick and had to buy medicine.
For achieving general safety during Ramadan, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has also urged motorists to strictly follow all traffic rules and regulations, especially avoid speeding before Iftar time as the period before Iftar has been noticed as the most vulnerable time for traffic accidents during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Ministry also asked motorist to not park the vehicles wrongly in front of Mosques during the night prayer and do not occupy the parking of people with special needs, and give way for the emergency vehicles and guarantee the provision of the rights of pedestrians.
To protect themselves from food poisoning, people have to check the validity of canned, frozen or preserved foodstuff and also make sure that there are not any changes in the smell, color or texture of the stuff.
