Doha: The Ministry of Culture has banned The Danish Girl movie from the cinemas. The ministry has not given any reason on the twitter handle where they announced the decision.
The movie was running in many Qatar cinema theatres for the last few days.
Many people had requested for a ban of the movie on social media platforms as the movie is against the local culture. A hash tag in Arabic
requesting the ban was trending in Qatar for some time.
"We would like to inform you that we have contacted the concerned administration and the screening of the Danish film is now banned from cinemas," the culture ministry wrote on Twitter.
"We thank you for your unwavering vigilance," AFP reported.
