Doha: Eid Bin Mohammad Al Thani Charitable Association has conducted relief and development projects worth QR454m in 59 countries during 2015. This was announced announced at a press conference today.
The association carried out more than 5,700 projects. Relief aids topped the list with an amount in excess of QR118 million. The majority of the amount was directed towards Syrian refugees.
The Chairman of the board of directors Sheikh Eid Bin Mohammad Al Thani pointed to the growth achieved by the association in foreign projects that amounted to 5772 overseas projects, worth more than QR 394 million. That's in addition to local cultural, social and advocacy projects that worth QR 60 million.
For his part, Ali bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the foundation, said that Eid bin Mohammed Al-Thani Charity Foundation attaches great importance to its projects of local humanitarian, cultural and social as well as its humanitarian efforts in conflict and disaster areas in the world.
He added that humanitarian activities have been expanded to 59 countries indicating that the association's revenue reached QR460 million.
Al Suwaidi also pointed that the association has built 469 mosques and 359 houses for people in need as well as has conducted 2852 water projects.
