Doha, Qatar: The FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2024 is set to get underway in Qatar. Four continental club champions will compete for a world title on 11, 14 and 18 December.
A new format for the tournament will see three trophies handed out, making each match a highly contested affair.
The first match will be the FIFA Derby of the Americas Qatar 2024. It will take place at Stadium 974 on 11 December, 8pm kick off.
It will see CONCACAF champions CF Pachuca from Mexico take on CONMEBOL Libertadores winners and Brazilian side Botafogo for the title.
The road to Qatar for the two sides saw them climb to continental glory and book a spot in the elite competition.
For CF Pachuca, this was their 6th CONCACAF Champions League title while Botafogo became South American champions for the first time in their history.
The Rio de Janeiro side also won their first domestic title since 1995, putting them on course for more titles in Doha.
Stadium 974 is a 40,000-seater football arena was built for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and hosted seven matches during the tournament.
It is set to host two matches during the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, showcasing Qatar’s sporting legacy and its commitment to sustainability.
The second match set to take place at the stadium is the FIFA Challenger Cup Qatar 2024.
It will see African Champions League winners Al Ahly SC take on the winner from the Derby of the Americas.
The match will take place at Stadium 974 on 14 December, 8pm kick off.
The Egyptian side, referred to as the Club of the Century by legions of its adorning fans, is the most successful club in African football history.
The Cairo-based club has won the CAF Champions League a total of 12 times, more than any other African side.
The tournament will culminate with the winner of the Challenger Cup meeting European giants Real Madrid CF during the final of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2024.
Set to be played at the iconic Lusail Stadium on the exact two-year anniversary of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final, the match will see the crowning of the best club in the world for this calendar year.
Real Madrid qualified for the global showdown after claiming the UEFA Champions League for the 15th time, more than any other European side.
Los Blancos enjoy a massive fan base worldwide and will be well supported when they take to the pitch at the 89,000 seater stadium.
After hosting a historic FIFA World Cup final, Lusail Stadium also hosted the final match of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
The continental tournament which saw hosts Qatar lift the trophy for the second time in a row was the most attended in the history of the competition.
In addition to world class venues, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup will use Qatar 2022 training sites, providing players with an impeccable experience.
Fans will also be able to visit and experience several cultural and touristic sites that embody Qatar’s culture and signature hospitality.

A sensory room for fans with sensory needs, including fans with Autism, will also be available in Lusail Stadium.

Fans attending matches must present digital tickets using the official FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2024 app.
All fans are required to have a ticket regardless of their age.
Gates open 3 hours before kick-off for Stadium 974, and 4 hours before the match at Lusail Stadium.
A range of cultural activities, including live performances, will be part of a fan zone in the vicinity of all stadiums prior to match kick-off.
