Doha: Two months after opening Qatar Visa Centre (QVC) in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Qatar Ministry of Interior is readying to open its second such centre in Bangladesh.

The Visa Support Services Department at the Ministry held a seminar yesterday for Bangladeshi community and companies that employ a large number of Bangladeshi workers.

Major Abdulla Khalifa Al-Muhannadi, director of Visa Support Services Department said that Qatar Visa Centre in Bangladesh will be opened within few days and it will simplify visa procedures for expat working coming to Qatar.

This step comes within the framework of the expatriate workers recruitment strategy that simplifies employment visa procedures and protects the rights of all parties involved in the process.

QVC outside the country will facilitate completion of all work visa requirements from the home country of expatriate worker including medical test, biometric data processing and signing employment contract. The employer will be able to issue the QID for the employees on the same day of his arrival in Qatar, said Major Al-Muhannadi.

The project targets employment through 20 service centres in eight countries: Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Tunisia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

Major Al Muhannadi added that the centre offers work visa procedures in the first phase while all types of visa services will be provided through these centres in the next phase.
