Doha: Dana Alfardan, Qatari composer and songwriter, has released a new video on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, for One Nation, the song composed by Dana last year in solidarity with Qatar in light of the current blockade. The new re-worked video reflects the developments since the siege and celebrates a year of solidarity with the people and residents of Qatar.
In collaboration with a number of local and international musicians, partners as well as volunteers, One Nation was originally released in June 2017 at the beginning of the blockade on Qatar and holds the name of “Al Yaqeen” in its Arabic edition.
Commenting on this initiative, Dana Alfardan said: “We’re coming to one year since the illegal blockage on Qatar. A year ago, despite great uncertainties, we remained steadfast behind our principles, and united behind our ruler, who led by example and maintained high moral standards in the face of adversity. Today, we all stand taller and wiser, we are one nation and one spirit, bursting with solidarity.”
“I have reworked the song released last year with a new video on Tuesday June 5, 2018 to reflect the developments since the siege was announced on Qatar.” Dana continued: “The rain will fall to plant the seeds that feed us all. Hardships are only temporary, they’re an ingredient for personal growth and you can always cultivate something fruitful out of it with the right frame of mind. This is my message of unity and strength that I want to share and celebrate with the people of this country”.
In addition to Dana composing the song and writing the vocals in English, some of the biggest names in the Qatari music scene have also contributed to the vocals of One Nation including Fahad Al Kubaisi and Essa Al Kubaisi while Fahad Al Mursel, has written the Arabic lyrics.
Dana describes the music scene in Qatar as blossoming and very genuine and authentic and believes that the state is now witnessing a renaissance and a revival of people, culture and arts.
