Jakarta: Indonesia's state-owned electricity company PT PLN announced Thursday that the transactions at the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations across the country increased 4.9 times, or around 80,970 transactions in total, during the period of Eid al-Fitr season year on year.

Meanwhile, electricity consumption at the stations rose to 1,950 megawatt hours (MWh), which is 5.8 times higher compared to 334 MWh in the same period last year.

"People's excitement in using electric vehicles is increasing. We want people to experience a safe and comfortable homecoming experience using electric vehicles," PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo was quoted by local media.

Due to the increase of EV users in Indonesia, the Southeast Asian country under PLN has provided 3,558 units of charging stations in the country.
