TUNIS: Tunisian President Kais Saied said on Thursday that he has issued a decree effectively dissolving the Supreme Judiciary Council, one of the last remaining institutions in the country able to work independently of him.

Tunisia, often lauded as the only democracy to emerge from the 2011 Arab Spring revolts, elected Saied with almost 73 percent of the vote in a runoff election in October 2019.
