DOHA: The Minister of Economy and Commerce registered over 1,000 new companies during December 2015, according to the latest data released by the Ministry.
Of the total 1,043 commercial registrations made during the last month of 2015, over 70 percent (727) were registered to establish big new companies. The remaining 30 percent (316) were for the expansion of the existing companies. The Ministry also cancelled the registrations of over 200 old firms in December.
Among the total 206 cancelled registrations during the same month, some 67 were main companies, while 139 were branch operations of big companies. Over 500 new registrations are belonging to companies with limited liabilities, while about 425 commercial licenses were awarded to companies for sole proprietorship.
Restaurants, fast food, fruits and vegetable outlets constituted over 6 percent of the total commercial registrations during the month, while cleaning companies and supermarkets registrations constituted 6 percent and 4 percent, respectively. The Peninsula
