MoI seminar creates awareness about holding community events

The Establishments’ and Missions’ Security Department of the Ministry of Interior organised yesterday a virtual awareness seminar on the “Duties and Responsibilities of the Private Security Guards and the Department’ Services. The event, which was organised in collaboration with the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior, highlighted functions and services provided by the Department. The Department gave details about the requirements for approvals for communities and companies’ events and parties.

The requirements include to “bring the original permit issued by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, including the general provisions and conditions contained in the license. Also “A letter from the organiser of the event addressed to the Director of the Department stating that there is no objection of holding the event, stating the place, date and the time of the event, in addition to a copy of the establishment’s registration and the commercial register of the organizer explaining the activity of holding parties and festivals.

Major Hamad Jabor Al Henzab, Head of the Private Security Companies Section provided an introduction about the Department and its tasks in securing and protecting various institutions, bodies and facilities. Speaking at the event about the functions and services provided by the Department, Major Al Henzab said that the Department protects ministries, government departments and establishments, and the headquarters of diplomatic missions and international and regional organizations accredited to the state, securing vital facilities, providing security during festivals and various cultural and artistic events hosted by Qatar. It also issues, he noted, security permits to organise various events.

“The importance of the Department is that, it has a direct relationship with securing the wide public at national level, whether they are citizens or residents – or internationally, by providing security and protection for the headquarters of the diplomatic and consular missions, ambassadors’ homes, and all foreign institutions and interests including international organization, schools or cultural centers,” Major Al Henzab said. Officers representing various sections under the Establishments’ and Missions’ Security Department, also presented papers on duties and responsibilities of the private security guards during the pandemic situation and normal days.

The officers also explained the precautions that should be taken while transporting valuables, duties and responsibilities of the private security guards working at commercial and residential complexes and hotels, requirements for granting permits for public programs, celebrations and gatherings by communities and companies and importance of cooperation with private security guards.

Lieutenant Saleh Talib Al Athba Al Marri, Officer at the Permits Branch at the Department, spoke about the conditions for approval requirements for personal events and parties which includes a letter from hotel or the concerned authority addressed to the director of the Department stating that there is no objection to hold the event.It also includes a copy of the identity card or passport of the event owner. For his part, Captain Hassan Rashid Al Rubaie, Officer of Studies Branch, pointed out the importance of public cooperation with private security personnel, as they are the second line after public security in achieving security and an essential element in maintaining security and safety for society.
