Sharp rise in tourist arrival in Q3

DOHA: Several partnerships in the tourism sectors have resulted in sharp rise in the number of tourists coming to Qatar. Hassan Abdulrahman Al Ibrahim, Acting Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority, said yesterday that the number of visitors from Russia increased by 214 percent, while visitors from China rose by 47 percent in the third quarter of 2018.

The number of German visitors also increased by 38 percent while the number of Indian visitors rose by 25 percent, thanks to the application of the new strategy for the tourism sector and the increasing number of partnerships.

Al Ibrahim highlighted the new opportunities and partnerships available in the tourism sector in Qatar. He also shed light on the programs and plans that are aimed at strengthening Qatar’s status as a preferred tourist destination in the region. He hailed the remarkable growth achieved in the tourism sector in Qatar and said that the opening of new representative offices in many foreign markets was also played crucial role in increasing number of tourists Al Ibrahim said that the strategy of Qatar Tourism Authority is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. Through its strategy, QTA works on providing a unique experience for tourists and visitors to Qatar.

Qatar attaches great importance to the tourism sector as one of the factors contributing to the economic diversification through which the State aims to achieve high economic growth. He stressed on the importance of IPEC 2018 which brings together many countries that can play a significant role in developing the tourism sector in Qatar, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
