Doha: In a bid to honour Qatar’s frontline workers in the health sector who have tirelessly worked around the clock since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, popular savings and lifestyle app Urban Point is offering free one-year subscription to healthcare workers in the country, an official has said.
Like the rest of the world, Qatar’s health sector was under pressure as of early April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the authorities taking steps to limit the health and economic impact of the virus.
As a token of appreciation, Urban Point will provide a free one-year subscription to all healthcare workers in Qatar. The app has thousands of ‘Buy One Get One Free’ offers that renew every month at restaurants, hotels, cafes, spas, salons, fitness centres, leisure and retail outlets in Qatar.
Co-founder of Urban Point, Susanna Ingalls (pictured), said: “This is a small way to thank our doctors and nurses in Qatar. We want them to benefit from the thousands of offers on Urban Point so that they can enjoy with their friends and families while saving significant amounts of money.
The COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged the world. Thankfully, the front line workers in Qatar worked around the clock to mitigate the damage and prevent a third wave. The pandemic pressured front line workers to new extremes as they worked longer hours, and many were forced to stay quarantined from their loved ones. The return of normality in Qatar that we enjoy today would not have been possible without their sacrifices”.
To get the free subscription, healthcare workers can simply send an email from their work email address to [email protected]. This way Urban Point team can ensure that they are a member of a healthcare institution in Qatar and provide them the free access to the Urban Point app. If they don’t have a work email address, then they can simply send a proof of occupation such as work badge. However, in this case, they should make sure to hide confidential details, such as the employee number.
Those who are interested to claim the offer should contact Urban Point before September 30, 2021. The Urban Point subscription will be valid for 12 months from the date of activation.
Urban Point, which is powered by Ooredoo, is also available to postpaid Ooredoo users for free as part of their postpaid Shahry and Qatarna plans. Launched in 2016, the app is now accepted at close to a 1,000 outlets in Qatar and also has presence in Oman and Kuwait.
