‘Lebanon in Our Hearts’ campaign raises over QR94m

The donations of the fundraising campaign ‘Lebanon in Our Hearts’ reached over QR94m on second day in a live transmission held on Qatar TV yesterday to support the people in Lebanon affected by Biuret Port blast.

A total of QR65,244,865 donation was raised on first day (Friday) during two hours live transmission. The second day of programme which began at 9pm and lasted until 12.15 midnight raised a total of QR94,052,940. The pouring donations forced organisers to extend the two-hour programme for an hour and 15 minutes.  

The fundraising began with generous donation of QR1m by Ooredoo. Afterward, the donations started pouring in from financial institutions, banks, insurance companies, exchange houses and other private firms in the country. 
Large number people including local businessmen, individuals, women and children contributed in a big way to the campaign. 

Qatar National Bank (QNB) donated QR2m, Al Rayan Bank contributed with QR1.5m. Qatar International Islamic Bank donated QR1m. Alfardan Group donated QR1m. 

As much as QR3.2m donations were made from sons of late Abdul Jalil Al Abdul Ghani. Al Darwish United Co donated QR500,000. Qatar Islamic Insurance Company donated QR100,000. 

Lebanese Expatriate Community in Qatar contribute QR40,000. A woman, Umm , donated QR25,000 and a child Turki Al Kuwari donated QR10,000.  

The campaign was organised by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) in cooperation with Qatar Charity (QC) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), to support Lebanese people, following the tragic disaster that struck the port of Beirut. 

A number of scholars, humanitarian activists and representative from local charity organizations were guests of the programme who encouraged people to extend their helping hand for their brothers in Lebanon at this tough time.

Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Maliki, Chief Executive Director of QRCS said that QRCS responded quickly to the blast of Beiruit
port while speaking at the fundraising programme Al Maliki said that a filed team from QRCS are available in Lebanon to support the affected people. Relief materials and medical supplies were also dispatched.

Sheikh Mawafi Adab, a famous Islamic scholar was among the guest of programme to encourage to donors. Sheikh
Mawafi prayed from Allah to give best rewards to those contributed in the campaign.
