Business councils, chamber of commerce heads, representatives, and ambassadors at the Suhoor meeting.
Eighteen business councils and chambers of commerce in Qatar gathered at the Raffles Doha recently to partake in a Suhoor in the presence of 14 ambassadors.
The networking also provided an opportunity for chamber heads, representatives and the business community to interact and exchange views for further collaboration and forge new partnerships to develop businesses.
Dr. Fariborz Samadian of the Swiss Business Council addressed the 350 attendees by saying: “The momentum created by last year’s pre-World Cup networking event has resulted in more business groups showing interest to associate themselves with our initiatives. We will continue to organise joint events for the business community to interact and exchange views.”
Speaking on the sidelines of the event Italian Ambassador to Qatar Paolo Toschi said trade between Italy and Qatar in 2022 was good and added that it is on a growth trajectory.
American Chamber of Commerce in Qatar Executive Director Brooke Holland said meetings of this nature strengthens bonds among the business community in Qatar with whom the US has a great partnership.
“There is a huge opportunity for businesses in Qatar with who the US has marked 50 years of diplomatic relations and also on the heels of the 5th strategic dialogue between the US and Qatar private sector businesses. I think this a thriving time for businesses in Qatar,” Holland said.
Dr. Samadian and Ilef Ajra, a representative at the German Industry and Commerce Office presented Caroline Adenberger from Advantage Austria with a souvenir poster from Qatar.
Adenberger who first proposed the concept of a joint Suhoor will be leaving Qatar having completed four years as the Austria Trade Commissioner for Qatar and Kuwait.
The Suhoor was held outdoor on the Raffles’ s terrace located in the new Lusail landmark: the cross-sword Katara Towers overlooking Lusail Marina where the guests were able to socialise with live music in the background.
This is the first Ramadan event organised with so many business associations, a very successful post-World Cup event showing strengthening the ties of the international business community.
