Close to two decades with The Peninsula means the newspaper is more than an office you go daily and spend eight hours it has become part of your life. The time spend at my desk has intertwined so much with the time away from it that the distinction between the two is a blur.
Working at The Peninsula has enriched me so much professionally and personally that it has helped me grow as a better news person and a human being.
As we started out with The Peninsula Online department six years ago, as a team, we decided that our main motto will be “check the authenticity of the news, again and again.”
Even if we are a couple of minutes late, we should verify every single news item going up on our website. We have more or less stuck to this over the years.
When one of our Facebook followers sent a message asking us to verify a news item he saw on social media saying “we always check The Peninsula feed to verify if some news is true or not” made our chest swell with pride and satisfaction. All the hard work by the team over the years proved worthwhile in that one comment.
This is what, as a professional news person, one lives for — earning the trust and respect of the reader. And that is what we are trying to do and will continue to do — one reader at a time.
