More than 60 public and private entities will participate in the 33rd GCC Traffic Week which will kick off on Sunday evening at Darb Al Saai under the theme “Your Life is a Trust."
Officials from GCC traffic departments will attend the opening ceremony to share experiences and views.
This was announced yesterday by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Radi Al Hajri, Director of Media and Awareness at the Traffic Department at a press conference held at the Traffic Department headquarters in Madinat Khalifa.
The week-long celebrations organised by the General Directorate of Traffic will include new and diverse activities such as seminars, lectures, competitions, and awareness and entertainment activities.
The morning events, which will be held from 8am to 12 noon, are for school students while the evening events from 4pm till 10pm will be for the general public.
“The message of GCC Traffic Week is for all road users, and we focused more on children and offered three areas for them - playground area, educational area and traffic village - to educate them about traffic rules,” said Major Jaber Mohamed Rashid Odaiba, Assistant Director of Media and Awareness.
“Next month, the GCC countries will discuss a unified GCC traffic strategy in order to unify the traffic messages among GCC countries," said Al Hajri. A traffic awareness short film contest will be held in which participants can present short films under two minutes on traffic awareness.
